How to measure the strap and winder
Measure the old strap with a ruler or, if it is gone, the winder slot. On built-in box blinds also check the top pulley: a wider strap rubs and frays.
14, 18 or 22 mm: which goes where
14 mm is used on small windows and light blinds; 18 mm is the most common in Barcelona flats; 22 mm on large balcony blinds, solid PVC or filled aluminium. Thickness and weave matter too: a thin strap on a heavy blind will not last.
When to replace the winder as well
If the winder spring no longer rewinds, the strap has snapped several times or the winder is an old recessed type, replacing both avoids a second breakdown soon after.

Call if the strap is broken, you do not know the width or the winder no longer rewinds: we replace the strap and check winder and pulley in the same visit.
Frequently asked questions
Can I fit a 22 mm strap where there was an 18 mm one?
No: it will not fit the winder or run through the pulley. Keep the original width or replace winder and pulley.
How long does a blind strap last?
Five to ten years depending on use and sun. South-facing or daily-use blinds wear out sooner.
